JOB OVERVIEW

The Regional Director Food & Beverage leads the strategic direction, execution and continuous improvement of Sunrise’s dining programs across its full service portfolio. This visionary and hands-on leader will create an exceptional, service-forward dining experience that supports resident wellness, celebrates choice and dignity and reinforces Sunrise’s mission and brand promise. The Regional Director Food & Beverage also drives improvements in food quality, service delivery and team performance while aligning with evolving resident expectations and industry best practices. Additionally, the role partners across departments to elevate resident satisfaction, strengthen team engagement and ensure the highest levels of financial performance and regulatory compliance.

Job Description




Essential Duties

Operational Leadership



  • Inspire, coach and support culinary and dining service teams across Sunrise’s national portfolio of IL communities—including assisted living, memory care and skilled nursing neighborhoods—to foster a culture of collaboration and service excellence.

  • Recruit, develop and retain top culinary and hospitality leaders capable of delivering consistent, high-quality resident experiences.

  • Oversee the execution of seasonal, nutritious and innovative menus tailored to diverse dietary and medical needs.

  • Ensure compliance with all applicable food safety, sanitation and regulatory standards.

  • Lead training and development initiatives to build team capabilities and support successful implementation of new programs.

  • Leverage service trend data to drive continuous improvement and operational efficiency.

  • Develop and maintain performance metrics and operational audits to support consistency and accountability across communities.



Collaboration & Culture



  • Partner with teams across Care, Sales, Operations, Programming and Dining to align strategies and optimize the overall resident experience.

  • Develop and implement team member engagement strategies, in close collaboration with Human Resources, to boost retention, build leadership pipelines and strengthen team culture.

  • Cultivate strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholders while serving as a visible, approachable leader committed to service, respect and trust.



Financial & Strategic Oversight



  • Oversee dining services’ performance across the IL portfolio, ensuring financial accountability, revenue growth and cost control.

  • Analyze and interpret financial reports, resident feedback and team member engagement data to identify priorities, mitigate risks, and drive strategic focus.

  • Collaborate with Asset Management and Portfolio leadership to shape capital and operating plans that support long-term growth and innovation.

  • Identify and implement initiatives that improve efficiency, drive profitability, and enhance the overall dining and hospitality offering.



Other



  • Maintain compliance in assigned required training and all training required by state/province or other regulating authorities as applicable to this role to ensure that Sunrise standards are always met.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Demonstrated success leading multi-site food and beverage operations with a focus on consistency, regulatory compliance and continuous improvement in quality, efficiency and service delivery.

  • Proven ability to elevate dining programs through culinary creativity, wellness-focused menus and service enhancements that align with the preferences and needs of older adults.

  • Demonstrated ability to build high-performing, service-oriented teams by recruiting top talent, fostering a culture of accountability and inclusion and driving ongoing development at all levels.

  • High level of expertise in analyzing financial data, setting performance benchmarks and implementing strategies that drive profitability, cost control and long-term growth across complex portfolios.

  • Proven ability to build strong cross-functional partnerships to support enterprise goals and deliver a cohesive resident experience.





Experience and Qualifications


  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive leadership experience in culinary, dining or hospitality operations, including at least 5 years overseeing multi-site or regional teams in a complex service environment.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management, Culinary Arts, Business Administration or a related field preferred.

  • Industry experience in senior living, healthcare, luxury hospitality or lifestyle services highly preferred.

  • Deep expertise in culinary program development, food service operations, wellness-centered dining and hospitality best practices, with demonstrated ability to adapt offerings to evolving resident needs and industry standards.

  • Proven track record of building and leading high-performing teams across multiple locations, with an emphasis on service excellence, cultural alignment and leadership development.

  • Exceptional financial and operational acumen, with demonstrated ability to manage large-scale budgets, analyze performance data and translate insights into strategic action.

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels, including executives, community teams, residents and partners.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and data platforms, with the ability to quickly learn Sunrise-specific systems and technology.

  • Flexible and responsive to the needs of a 24/7 operation, including availability during weekends, holidays and peak service periods.

  • Willingness and ability to travel extensively (up to 75%) to support community teams, oversee quality and lead key initiatives on site.
