Sunrise Senior Living has an immediate need for a senior-level Project Manager at its Community Support Office in McLean, VA (Tysons Corner).

Under the supervision of the Director, Product Development and Innovation, the Project Manager is responsible for managing assigned project-specific resources, schedules, and finances throughout the product development lifecycle, which includes: management of project-related issues, mitigation of risks, and coordination of project change requests; ensuring successful and on-time project delivery. The selected candidate will also contribute to and coordinate ongoing process-improvement initiatives as it directly relates to improving project delivery. He/she will utilize standard project management and documentation methodologies to manage complex projects with multiple stakeholder groups.

RESPONSIBILITIES & QUALIFICATIONS

 
Responsibilities:
 
  • Manage a new and complex initiative from pilot-to-launch, and subsequent iterations and throughout its evolution
  • Ensure the adherence of all on-time stakeholder project milestones and deliverables
  • Own successful project delivery, employing strategy implementation from initiation to deployment for one major or several minor initiatives simultaneously
  • Manage all operational aspects that support the achievement of strategic objectives
  • Report on project success criteria results, metrics, test and deployment management activities
  • Manage and implement all aspects of project strategy from planning, external vendor relationships, communications, resources, budget, change, risks and issues
  • Monitor, track and control outcomes to resolve issues, conflicts, dependencies and critical path deliverables
  • Gather requirements from key stakeholders and project teams
  • Develop and deliver progress reports, proposals, requirements documentation and presentations to various audiences, including project teams, sponsors, and key stakeholders
  • Assemble stakeholder status reports, analyze results and troubleshoot problem areas
  • Deliver appropriate and effective executive-level communication, as needed
  • Ensure that projects and programs are proceeding according to scope, schedule, budget and quality standards
  • Work creatively and analytically in a problem-solving environment demonstrating teamwork, innovation, and excellence
  • Participate in the establishment and implementation of streamlining business practices, templates, and tools
  • Prepare estimates and detailed project plans for all phases of assigned project(s)
  • Manage the day-to-day project activities and resources
  • Provide status reporting on project milestones, deliverables, dependencies, risks and issues
  • Understand interdependencies between technology, operations and business needs
  • Manage project scope and changes
  • Coordinate and participate in the proposal, evaluation and vendor selection process
  • Act as an internal quality control check of completed project milestones/deliverables; participate in quality issue resolution, as required 

 

Qualifications:

  • Proven ability to work creatively and analytically in a problem-solving environment demonstrating teamwork, innovation and excellence
  • Build and maintain relationships by engaging business leaders to establish credibility, solve problems, build consensus and achieve objectives
  • Excellent leadership, communication, i.e., written, verbal and presentation, and interpersonal skills
  • Self-motivated, decisive, with the ability to adapt to change and competing demands
  • Advanced level Microsoft Project (or similar software), Excel, Word, and PowerPoint user proficiency
  • Experience in successfully leading projects and programs on-time, on-schedule and within budget
  • Strong experience presenting to executive sponsors and demonstrated communication skills; both written and oral with technical and non-technical staff and amongst all levels of management
  • Experience influencing and gaining buy-in from executives sponsors, team members, stakeholders and peers
  • Experience working both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
  • Flexible with proven ability to conform to shifting priorities, demands and timelines through analytical and problem-solving capabilities
  • Must be able to learn, understand and apply new technologies

 

Required qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field of study from an accredited college or university
  • Minimum of 5 years’ full-lifecycle project management experience; directly-related work experience may be substituted in lieu of a 4-year degree (year-for-year)
  • Past telecom, real estate or hospitality industries preferred
  • Must have previous experience with gathering and documenting business requirements
  • Experience with full product lifecycle with understanding of development lifecycle and the various technology methodologies that support that lifecycle
  • Proven ability to demonstrate a drive for results and accountability of business needs
  • Proven ability to work in an ambiguous environment and collaborate across multiple areas in order to achieve a common business objectives
  • Interpersonal skills to influence and spur change, facilitate and enhance performance within a cross-functional environment
  • Demonstrate decisiveness in resolving business problems, making decisions and identifying priorities
