    At Sunrise, our Assistant Manager inAccounting is responsible for accurately executing various Accounting & Owner Reporting.


    • Have ownership at an operating unit level of the general ledgers and related reports of assigned managed and joint venture portfolios
    • Participate in monthly close for assigned portfolios through the following activities:
      • Ensure ledgers are closed timely, accurately, and completely
      • Review/Prepare balance sheet account reconciliations
      • Review/Prepare intercompany reimbursement and management fee schedules/journal entries
      • Review close packages and approve journal entries prepared by Senior Accountant
    • Ensure reporting to Owners/Partners is provided timely, accurately, and completely.       Includes, but not limited to:
      • Preparation/Review of financial statement packages and calculations
      • Preparation/Review and coordinate cash distribution waterfall with Asset Management and Owners
    • Ensure timely resolution of portfolio issues with Owners/Partners and other Sunrise departments
    • Create positive, free-flowing communication with the various departments at SSL to enhance the effectiveness and cooperation in resolving issues
    • Participate in annual audits/reviews of joint ventures and managed ventures. Includes, but not limited to, preparation of schedules for auditors, drafting and review of audited financial statements, and coordination with other departments to obtain requested information
    • Supervise, mentor, and train Senior Accountant
    • Support Manager in special requests
    • Prepare, review, and maintain portfolio abstracts; demonstrate working knowledge of portfolio contracts and agreements
    • Participate in annual budget process primarily related to cash distributions and management fees
    • Develop Peoplesoft reports for department needs and provide recommendations for process improvement when appropriate


    Decision-Making Latitude:

    The Assistant Manager will work closely with the Manager.  However, significant decision-making latitude will be expected and encouraged on day-to-day issues that may be resolved by the Assistant Manager.  Unusual items may be brought to the attention of peers and supervisors for further analysis and brainstorming. This candidate should be ready to become a Manager.  


    • B.S. Accounting or Finance
    • 5-8 years on-the-job accounting experience with increasing responsibility in career progression
    • 1-3 years of supervisory experience
    • Strong communication skills for interaction with Owners/Partners/Sunrise Departments/Auditors
    • Ability to comfortably work in an intensely deadline-oriented environment
    • Detail-oriented, strong organizational skills, and strong problem-solving skills
    • Team-oriented attitude
    • Heavy experience with Microsoft Excel and Access



    • Public accounting and/or accounting in a real estate development, property management, or venture accounting environment
    • PeopleSoft experience
    • CPA
